Before the pandemic hit, every second Tuesday of the month I would load up my camera into the car and drive to the Senior Center. It was Birthday Bingo day. 9 a.m. sharp, rain or shine. I looked forward to these mornings because they meant I’d get to see Mr. Hollis.
The Jackson County Commission recently used funding it received from the CARES Act to purchase 12 Lucas Chest Compression Machines.
Highlands Medical Center will host two first dose COVID-19 Moderna vaccine clinics on Thursday, February 18 and Friday, February 19 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. while supplies last. Three hundred vaccines will be available each of these days. The clinics will be held in the main lobby of HMC.

The Scottsboro-Jackson Heritage Center is currently raising funds to complete a 3,000+ square foot addition to the back of the Brown-Proctor House, where the center is currently housed. The project has been in the works since 2013, and construction was finally able to begin last year.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of NSM, serving the children of Jackson and DeKalb counties, is holding a Casino Night fundraiser.
