This past weekend, my family and I were reminded just how amazing our little town is.
According to Jackson County Solid Waste Director Caleb Skipper, there are currently 12,359 residential solid waste customers in the county. Of those, 494 customers are suspended, with balances totaling $171,484.

The state of Alabama currently has 5,700 children in foster care with 220 available for adoption. Jackson County has 100+ children in the system with only 51 licensed and open foster homes, and out of those 51, only 35 homes have an active placement.
The Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce announced the promotion of Lydia Pennington to Executive Director of Tourism. She will be responsible for developing strategies, programs, and policies to promote responsible tourism, effectively manage tourism impacts, and stimulate economic development through tourism.
