Life on Sand Mountain

A Sand Mountain Saturday night

When I was a teenager back in the 1960’s, I used to go to Rainsville, Alabama and spend a week with my Uncle Leonard Hall in the summer while school was out and sometimes on the weekend when school was in service.

Fred Roberts’ Store
For some, the store was the community center and to others I guess it was the senior citizen center.

Life on Sand Mountain

My family lived in Jackson County Alabama, on Sand Mountain, near Pisgah, in the Blow Gourd Community, in Frank Shaver’s old Home Place, when a big snow came on Valentines night of 1958.
