Wynn gets 100th win

Scottsboro High School’s Varsity Basketball Coach Derek Wynn recently celebrated his 100th career win as head coach.
Wynn, a 2001 Section High School graduate began his coaching career in 2007 when he returned to his alma mater and coached under his previous coach Ronnie McCarver. In 2009 Wynn left Section to coach the Skyline High School Varsity Boys.  Wynn remained at Skyline for three years. The team won the area tournament each year and went to the regional tournament. Wynn left Skyline and began as head Coach for the Scottsboro High School Varsity girl’s team in 2012.
Wynn has high hopes and expectations for his team, including the chance to host and win the area tournament and a spot in the regional tournament. The Varsity girls have not made it to the regional tournament since 2008.  Last year the team had a season record of 19-11. The girls have won every game this season.
Wynn says that he has a lot of fun coaching this team and he feels he has a good group of girls. When asked if he was excited about his 100th win, he responded by saying “This is my job, it’s what I’m supposed to do. “
