Wilson McDonald

Wilson Joe McDonald, age 73 of Scottsboro, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from the Rudder Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. McDonald was born on August 31, 1943 to the late Wilson Merriman and Ruth Nance. Joe confessed his love for Christ at an early age and later jointed the Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Scottsboro. He remained a faithful member until his health failed. He married Sidney Ann Johnson on February 7, 1970. To this union, three children were born, Erwin Maurice McDonald, Andrea Lynn McDonald and Kim McDonald. He was a member of the armed forced and fought in the Vietnam War, of which he received and honorable discharge from the U.S. Army. Joe worked for over 30 years at the aluminum plant in Scottsboro. He also owned and operated his own business for several years. While working in the machine shop, Joe helped several people in the community. He was a very passionate, loving and caring person who was always willing to help others. He was a loving husband and family man.

Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife, Sidney McDonald; children, Maurice (Sabine) McDonald, Andrea (Al) Clark and Kim McDonald; brother, Jerry (Sharon) Doss; six sisters, Betty, Patricia, Jackie, Norma, Gwen and Marsh; grandchildren, Brianna, Moses and Bradford; special friend, Robert “Football” Cullins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
