The election is over

The election is over folks. It is time to put away the muskets and daggers.

It is so foolish to get mad at someone because of their opinion about anything no less, a political election. You vote the way you want to and your friends will do the same. It is none of your business how they vote and none of their business how you vote. Let us put away our pettiness and childishness and remember who our friends are. You are belittling yourself if you take politics far enough to lose friends. Think about it.

Your friend had nothing to do with choosing the candidates but he has the right to vote for and cheer for the man or woman of his choice just as you have the same right. It is so ugly and petty to make ugly remarks to someone who was once your friend because his opinion does not agree with yours. Yet many will not be friends again after the recent election. As Patrick Henry said all those years ago, “Now is the time for all men to come to the aid of their country.” We need to think of America and her needs right now and put prejudice away and accept what is and work toward a better country where men are free. Think of the bigger picture.

Today let us return to the friends we once had and apologize if we need to make amends remembering that freedom of speech is one of our rights.

Everybody has a right to their own opinion, whatever the subject, and they should enjoy that right without being insulted or harassed taking it to the point of burning cities and killing innocent people because they had a difference of opinion. It is insane when you stop to think about it. Insulting our friends is on the same plane only smaller.

Let’s remember, “Love thy neighbor as thy self,” and put it into practice and give that one-time friend a call.
