During public comments at the last Jackson County Commission meeting held on September 30, 2019,

Johnny McAllister once again requested attention be given to County Road 14 and the ditches be cleared out.
Afterwards, the Commission voted on old business involving leasing the land of Sportsman’s Landing to the city of Scottsboro, approving the creation of an Election Administrator/Accounting Clerk for the Probate Office and approving said job description. These three items were approved and passed.
In new business, the 2019-2020 budget was approved and placed in the minutes. The budget meetings held with county leaders were a successful group effort and had a result of reducing the deficit from $300,000+ to $280,000 in the general fund. Insurance rates for the county also went down by an estimated $50,000, giving the county another much-needed break.
Two members were appointed to the Dekalb-Jackson Water Supply Board, with a term expiring in March of 2023. Frank Yates and Johnny McAllister were appointed by vote. Nancy Hodges and Robert Matthews were re-appointed to the Jackson County Healthcare Authority, with Dylan Smith being appointed to the board by vote. Their terms will expire in September of 2025.
