Cheyenne Vincent, a senior at Scottsboro High School, began her college career the summer of 2017 right before going into her junior year of high school. As she crosses the stage to receive her high school diploma, she will be walking with 62 college credit hours. This opportunity has been made available to her through Northeast Alabama Community College’s dual enrollment program. Cheyenne will be one of the first in Jackson County to obtain both high school and college diplomas in the same month.

Every year on Memorial Day and on Veterans Day, the VFW and American Legion have had a tradition of laying two wreaths at the memorials in the Jackson County Square.  Starting this Memorial Day, May 27, the laying of the wreaths will take place at the new Veterans Memorial Park of Jackson County at 9:30 am.

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has until May 29, 2019 to answer a complaint in Judge Liles C. Burke, U.S. District court. Judge Burke denied TVA’s motion to dismiss a case brought by Nuclear Development, LLC. The ruling was issued today.
