Teachers from Jackson County and Scottsboro City Schools took advantage of professional development opportunities this month. Several workshops have been offered to educators by IMPACT Learning Center.
On July 16th a group of teachers met at IMPACT Learning Center to learn more about achieving National Board Certification. This self- study allows teachers to improve their practice as they demonstrate a commitment to excellence.
An exciting jungle safari was the theme for the July 18th workshop based on strategies learned from the Ron Clark Academy to engage and impact students. Teachers and a few students were at IMPACT Learning Center to experience techniques that add to the learning environment. Pictured bottom right are Brooke Smith, Nicki Hollaway, Amy Tiffin, Tammie Bass, Vicky McLaughlin, Eddie Adkins, Cassie Baugh and Chasta Breland.
Three Woodville students shared how cheers and chants are used to affirm students in the classroom.
Computer classes are offered at IMPACT Learning Center each Thursday. Two Google Docs workshops were provided for educators on July 18th and July 25th. Twenty-one city and county school staff members took advantage of this learning opportunity.
Learning how to use 3D printing across the curriculum was the topic for the July 23rd workshop for teachers at IMPACT Learning Center. Mary Waterhouse, from Marshall County schools, showed teachers just how easy it is to add this technology in every classroom. Mary brought one of her 3D printers and many examples of students’ work from her classroom using the 3D printer. Teachers had a chance to try designing items themselves on the computer. They are hoping to add this wonderful learning experience into their own classrooms.
You can contact IMPACT Learning Center for more information about future workshops at (256) 218-2121.
