STEVENSON, Ala.
The Tennessee Valley Authority announced Friday the safe demolition of two 500-foot coal stacks and two boilers at its shuttered Widows Creek Fossil Plant. Small explosive charges were used to ensure debris is in manageable sizes and can be recycled as TVA readies the site for economic redevelopment.

Scottsboro Womans league members will have apples for Apple Annie Day on Friday October 4. Apples will be available in front of Walmart, the Jackson County Courthouse, Bruce’s Foodland and FNB bank. Please make a donation in exchange for an apple to help support Jackson County mental health. 

The TVA STEM Classroom Grant Program sponsored by the Tennessee Valley Authority and Bicentennial Volunteers Incorporated, a TVA retiree organization, is now open for applications. The program funds Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics learning projects in classrooms and schools in the TVA service areas throughout the Tennessee Valley.
