During the recent Scottsboro City Council meeting, council members  approved  the award for container  and roll off bids at the Solid Waste Department; council members also approved the adjustment of wrecker rates to the ALEA state towing fees.

The 12th Annual Senior Expo is set for January 25 at the Goose Pond Civic Center. 

The free event will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. A paper shredder will be available beginning at 1 p.m. However, the committee requests that all papers brought for the shredder have no staples, clips or any other metals.
During the event, guests will enjoy visiting with approximately 70 vendors who offer services to senior citizens in Jackson County. Guests will have the opportunity to register for various door prizes.
The winner of a $500 door prize, given by this year’s sponsor, One Love Hearing, will be drawn at the end of the day.
Entertainment will be provided by The Cumberland Mountain Boys and the Northeast Alabama Community College Jazz Ensemble.
A free hotdog lunch will be provided to all guests beginning around 11 a.m.
Transit busses to and from the Senior Expo will pick up and drop off those in need of transportation at the Jackson County Council on Aging or you may call 256-574-6733 for transportation services.
The Greater Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors will also be collecting canned food at the door to benefit CASA.
