The 4th Annual Scottsboro BBQ Cook-Off will be held on the downtown square in Scottsboro on Saturday, October 13.
The event will have activities for the entire family throughout the day.
“This year we have added a dog parade and cornhole tournament,” said committee member Kelly Goodowens. “We are excited to be adding both of these to the cook-off and we are looking forward to the community coming together next month.”
Activities include a Backyard BBQ Competition, sanctioned by the Alabama Barbecue Association. The backyard event is also the last leg of the ABA Backyard Division Triple Crown. A Kids-Q and Jr. Grill Master Championship will be held the first half of the day, with a Barq-Off Dog Parade, People’s Choice Competition and Cornhole Tournament held in the afternoon.
“In the People’s Choice Competition, we will have 10 contestants entering a Boston Butt and 10 contestants entering a dessert,” said committee member Vicki Watts. “The public can purchase tickets for $10 to taste all 20 samples and vote for their favorite in each category. Last year the People’s Choice was a huge success.”
Entry forms for all the competitions, as well as details about each activity are listed on the Scottsboro BBQ Cook-Off. Some have registration deadlines, others may be entered at the event. Visit www.scottsborobbqcookoff.com for more information.
“Admission to the cook-off is free to the public. Our sponsors have helped us make the Kids Fun Zone free to enjoy,” said committee member Holley Patterson. “While some activities may require a completed entry form and minimal fee, the overall event is free to attend.”
The Scottsboro BBQ Cook-Off is a non-profit organization, sponsored by the City of Scottsboro Tourism Fund, FNB Bank, Northeast Alabama Community College, Unclaimed Baggage Center, Scottsboro Electric Power Board and Scottsboro Water Sewer & Gas. Visit the website to view all the sponsors.
